Tonality in Norwegian

There are only a few languages with an extensive use of tonality which can change the meaning of the words. Example of languages where this occurs is Swedish, Serbian, Croatian and Lithuanian. Of course, for the discussion here, another example is Norwegian. The tonality is not only variable in the Norwegian standard but also has differences between dialects.
Because of this tonality the russian professor Valerij Pavlovitsj Berkov claim that Norwegian is one of the languages that are the most difficult to learn to perfection.

Examples of words that in Norwegian has quite distinct in tonality based on meaning are:
Tanken (the thought) - Tanken (The tank)
Låne (Loan, verb) - Lånet (The loan, with silent t)
Lande (land, verb) - Landet (The country, with silent t)

Even though it can be problematic to learn the tonality to perfection, the context when using any of these words will make it clear which word you mean.
Tonality, in the way explained here, will therefore not be something that will cause confusion.
